Current position

Since September 2011 I have been postdoctoral fellow at LBBE, working with Dr. Fabrice Vavre in the context of the ANR project ImmunSymbArt.

The main objective of the ImmunSymbArt project is to decipher the cellular and molecular processes involved in the maintenance and control of symbiosis, with a particular emphasis on immunity. To reach that objective we develop a comparative analysis of five contrasted models of symbiosis in arthropods : nutritional symbiosis of recent origin between the weevil Sitophilus oryzae and its symbiont SOPE ; recent transition towards obligate mutualism in the association between Asobara tabida and Wolbachia that is necessary for oogenesis completion ; commensal or non-obligate mutualistic symbioses in Drosophila melanogaster and Aedes albopictus infected by Wolbachia ; and conflictual symbiosis in the crustacean isopod Armadillidium vulgare where Wolbachia induces feminization of genetic males. On each model, massive sequencing (Illumina technology) on infected and uninfected samples has been performed.

My research interest is dedicated to the identification of common and specific pathways associated with symbiosis through the biological mining of the transcriptomic dataset.

Previous position

I was PhD student at the Ecology and Evolution Interactions laboratory (UMR 5244 CNRS-UPVD) at the University of Perpignan Via Domitia (France) between October 2007 and August 2011. My PhD work was advised by Pr. Guillaume MITTA and Dr. Benjamin GOURBAL. I recieved my PhD degree in March 2011 with "mention très honorable" (.pdf in french).

My goal was to investigate the molecular basis of the compatibility polymorphism (resulting from the reciprocal antagonistic co-evolution of hosts and parasites) observed in the Biomphalaria glabrata/Schistosoma mansoni, an host-parasite interaction. The main result of this work was to demonstrate for the first time in an invertebrate host-parasite interaction that a large repertoire of parasite epitopes matched a large repertoire of host immune receptors.
