Evolution of sex-biased genes in plants

R. Tavares, A. Muyle and G. Marais (team Sex and Evolution) contributed to a work on the evolution of sex-biased genes in plants led by a Swiss team (N. Zemp, A. Widmer), which has just come out in Nature Plants. The evolution of sex-biased gene expression in plants is elusive. By comparing the transcriptomes of two closely related species of different mating systems, a study has found that the change in expression preferentially occurred in females and in sex-linked genes.
