Jean David, director of research at the CNRS, died on June 19, 2021 at the age of 90.

Short biography: Biochemistry undergraduate at Oxford, then bioinformatics masters at Imperial College London. Followed by comparative genomics of mosquito immunity PhD also at Imperial. Then OrthoDB-orthology postdoc in Geneva participating in the i5k arthropod genomes initiative, and mosquito comparative genomics Marie Curie fellowship at MIT with return phase back in Geneva. Now assistant professor at the University of Lausanne since September 2017 and Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics Group Leader since 2018.
